$250,000 SETTLEMENT REACHED ON DOG BITE CASE

Metro Detroit Injury Lawyers reached a settlement earlier this month on a dog bite case involving an attack on a 3 year old boy that left the child with deep lacerations, puncture wounds and severe bruising to his face. While attempting to retrieve a toy with his mother next door, the child was attacked by the neighbor's dog resulting in the devastating and severe facial injuries. The minor required surgery to close the wound and may require a scar revision surgery as he gets older.

After negotiations with the neighbor's homeowners insurance fell through, a lawsuit was filed in the Macomb County Circuit Court in July of 2017. At the close of discovery and just days before Case Evaluation, the parties reached a full and final settlement for $250,000 in damages. In reaching the settlement, Cameron Peralta, the attorney for the minor dog bite victim, stressed not just the physical damages but the emotional injuries this incident caused the young plaintiff.

The settlement was approved by the circuit court and will provide just compensation for the minor plaintiff, as both he and his family look to move past this horrific incident.
